2. Lay Floating Covers

3. Cover With Straw

This method is not foolproof because we cannot exactly predict the behavior of birds but it’s worth trying out.

7. Sow More Seed

This method would be a last resort for me because honestly speaking, grass seed is not cheap and I will not buy it just to feed it to birds. With that said, the first six methods are much better.
Do Robins Eat Grass?
Now that we’ve established that robins do not eat grass seed, the next question would be: Do robins eat grass? The answer is no, robins do not eat grass however, they will eat what is in the grass.
It is a common misconception that birds, including robins, eat grass.
The truth is that most birds do not eat grass. Although some species of birds may occasionally eat small amounts of grass, it is not a major part of their diet. Grass is too tough and fibrous for most birds to digest, so they rely on other sources of food such as seeds, fruits, insects and worms.
Additionally, the nutritional value of grass is low compared to other food sources that birds can access. As a result, there are very few instances where eating grass would be beneficial to a bird’s health or survival.
Do Robins Eat Seeds?
Yes, robins eat seeds occasionally but they prefer to eat mealworms and insects.
If you’re planning to attract robins to your yard, make sure that your birdfeeder has foods that will appeal to them including dry mealworms.
